Project: ArcticNorth is working together with community members in Ulukhaktok and Paulatuk to identify and document adaptation actions to address key climate change risks affecting the communities. Building on existing climate change adaptation research, working groups were formed in the communities and included participants who had particular expertise in one of the five identified sectors: business and economy, culture and learning, health and well being, subsistence harvesting, and infrastructure and transportation.

The information generated by the working groups benefited from the comments made by expert community reviewers. Interviews were also conducted with decision makers in Inuvik, Yellowknife and Ottawa to further develop the identified adaptation actions and identify pathways to implementation. Collaboration with the communities is ongoing and project updates are available on the community’s web pages: Ulukhaktok and Paulatuk.
